New Dates for Well Counselling External Training 2019
Saturday 27th April 2019 and Saturday 22nd June 2019
10am – 4pm
The Well Counselling warmly invites you to two one-day long seminars in what it means to be solutions-focused in our client work. For many of us who are counsellors, solutions-focused training left an indelible impression on our therapeutic approach. The illuminating idea that ‘what is right with our clients is more important than what is wrong with them’ has been a hinge on which our work has swung from a pessimistic frame to an optimistic frame. The philosophy and skills enabled us to embrace a “learned optimism” about client work which we have found has been consistently empowering and releasing for our clients when used appropriately.
The 2 day course will be helpful, not only to counsellors, but coaches and teachers, indeed all who have work within the caring and enabling professions. We may follow up this course with some specialised counselling training for those who are interested in developing skills for brief therapy. The programme will offer plenty of chance to practice and experience the approach, with a view to challenging are current stance and practice from the radical position offered by the approach.
We are delighted to have Jeff Matthews to lead the training for us. Jeff has been involved with solutions-focused approaches in his work as a coach and coach supervisor in a variety of personal and organisational settings. He has used these methods as the basis of his own practice and it forms a cornerstone of his approach in training professionals in all forms of purposeful conversation. He originally trained in Finland with Ben Furman, and then Bill O’Connell as part of a Masters programme at Birmingham University. More recently he has worked with BRIEF (London) and is an accredited member of Solutions-Focused in Organisations (SFiO) and UKASFP.
The fee for each session is £50.00.
